Gråsisken er en fugl i finkefamilien, der er udbredt i Nordamerika og Eurasien. Den lever mest af frø fra træernes kogler og rakler.

Field marks

In , a red forehead and small black chin patch distinguish this small brown-streaked . The tail is short. Adult males show pink on the breast; their can be whitish or tinged red.

Can be confused with

  • Eurasian Siskin — Siskin has yellow in the wings and tail and, in males, a black crown. Redpoll’s brown streaked plumage lacks yellow patches; adults have a red forehead.
  • Twite — Twite lacks red on the head and has a yellow bill in winter. Adult Redpoll instead shows a red forehead and a small black chin patch.

Voice

Birds flying overhead often give a dry repeated "djæp-djæp-djæp". The song moves from rapid twittering into a long closing whirring trill.
