Tawny Owl

Natuglen er en mellemstor ugle med helt sorte øjne. Dens farve varierer fra grålig til rødbrun.
Medium-sized, compact, big-headed owl with no ear tufts, all-black eyes and a round, gentle expression. Grey or (commonest in Denmark) rufous-brown.
Can be confused with
- Long-eared Owl — Long-eared Owl is slimmer with long ear tufts and orange eyes; the Tawny Owl is round and big-headed with all-black eyes and no tufts.
Voice
The male's familiar, mournful hoot "hooo… hu-huhuhooo"; also a sharp "ke-wick" as a contact call.
Behaviour
A nocturnal resident that roosts by day against a trunk; hunts from a perch in woodland and gardens.
When and where
Denmark's commonest owl, a resident of woodland, parks and old gardens, most frequent in the eastern part of the country.
