Musvitten er en spurvefugl i mejsefamilien og en meget almindelig ynglestandfugl og ynglestrejffugl i Danmark, både i skov og by. Den regnes for at være Danmarks femtemest almindelige fugl og er også almindelig som træk- og vintergæst fra Skandinavien, Finland og Baltikum.

Field marks

A large , green over the back and yellow underneath. White cheek patches stand out within its shiny black head. A dark band divides the breast and belly; this is wider on males than females. The blue-grey wings each carry a single pale bar.

Can be confused with

  • Eurasian Blue Tit — Blue Tit is smaller. Look for a blue cap and a dark eye-line across its pale face. It can show a belly stripe, but this is much finer than on Great Tit.
  • Coal Tit — Coal Tit has a black head but a white nape patch, no yellow, and two white wingbars.
