Brent Goose
Branta bernicla

Knortegåsen er en gås i familien af egentlige andefugle, der yngler i højarktiske områder. Arten ses i Danmark som træk- og vintergæst og er den almindeligste af de mindre gæs.
A small, very dark goose, short in both neck and tail. Black covers the head, neck and upper breast, the rest of the body is a dark greyish-brown, and birds show a neat white mark in the side of the black neck. Below the tail it turns clean white, and the short black tail feathers are the stubbiest of any goose.
Voice
The call is a low, growling "ronk-ronk" kept at a fairly muted pitch; it is in fact this growling sound that gave the species its Danish name.
